But without your continued support, dementia patients and their caregivers won’t have the resources available to them to maintain or improve quality of life – programs like professional and family caregiver training, support groups, educational programs and creative therapies such as art express classes and the music and memory program.

There is still the need to raise approximately $250,000 in order to preserve the network, its programs and its employees until we can secure long term funding in the FY 18 budget. The program may be suspended at any time. Gifts are still needed.

The Memory and Aging Network Programs Include:

  • Music and art therapies for patients – outreach program
  • Workshops and support groups for families
  • Introductory and continuing education of Alzheimer’s disease for medical professionals
  • Autopsy program to correctly diagnosis Alzheimer’s disease
  • Brain bank to help young physicians understand the causes of Alzheimer’s disease
  • Access to research and clinical trial opportunities

  • Allow SIU to continue clinical services to Alzheimer’s patients at 32 sites in rural, Central and Southern Illinois.
  • Allow patients to stay in their homes with their loved ones
  • Provide support and training to caregivers
  • Reduce cost of assisted living or elder care facilities to Illinois families and the State of Illinois
